Forum Title: Storm Door Kick Place
Hello! I am replacing the old gold/brass fixtures and hardware in our home with satin/brushed nickel. The one thing I cant find is the kick plate for the storm door. I need one that is about 2.5 high. I can find plenty that are 8, 6, or 4 high but none smaller than that. The storm door I have is similar to this one with a small kick plate at the bottom:Andersen 2500 Series New 36 in. White Aluminum Self-Storing Storm Door with Nickel Hardware-HD2SSN36WH at The Home Depot Does anyone know where I could find a replacement for this? Thanks!

Take door out of guides and sandwich it between two pieces of 3/4 plywood. Lay 2X4 over ply and hold one under ply. Clamp with clamps and tighten them a little at a time. You should be able to get the bow out of door frame. RR

Storm doors don't have kick plates, they have adjustable bottom expanders. Your first trick will be to identify the storm door brand (if it's unusual, or an odd thickness that makes a difference) or just find the thickness and start shopping. Now that you know what to call it, Google might help you find what you need. (Google storm door bottom expander nickel) Last one I did I just had to order one with the right finish from the mfg, but that was on a Pella door.

Awesome! thanks to both of you. I also bought a new latch/handle yesterday and the screw holes don't match up correctly. The one I got was the only one from Lowe's that was similar to the one on the door I have. Can you get brand-specific latches too or is it normal to make some modifications? I was planning on drilling a hole in the door to make the handle fit.
